Quality Engineer (APQP) | 6 - 12 months | Rate: £37.00 - £40.00p/h (Outside IR35)

North Yorkshire

Are you an experienced Quality Engineer with strong fundamentals in APQP, PPAP, process control, and delivering structured quality processes into safety‑critical engineering environments? Do you enjoy taking ownership of quality workstreams, building processes from the ground up, and working closely with multi‑disciplinary teams to ensure compliance, manufacturability and operational integrity?

This is a hands‑on quality engineering contract, joining at a stage where the project has been running for a few months and is now entering the APQP scoping and process‑definition phase. You’ll work closely with design, projects, purchasing, quality and supply chain teams to embed structured processes, support MOD Secure by Design requirements, and drive the quality workstream forward.

Your Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for progressing the quality and APQP workstreams, ensuring robust, compliant and practical processes are implemented across the programme.

  • Develop and implement APQP processes, including control plans and key quality documentation.
  • Work closely with design, projects, purchasing, quality and supply chain teams to drive milestones and ensure process adherence.
  • Support the Secure by Design workstream by ensuring quality processes align with defence‑sector expectations.
  • Build new processes from the ground up where gaps exist and ensure they suit low‑volume, high‑integrity manufacturing.
  • Provide hands‑on support across goods‑in/goods‑out and production areas to ensure practical, robust process deployment.

You should be able to:

  • Take ownership of APQP and quality processes with minimal guidance.
  • Work proactively and independently, making sound technical and procedural decisions.
  • Guide teams who have limited APQP experience and impart structured process knowledge.
  • Apply systems/electrical engineering understanding to complex, safety‑critical products.
  • Interpret technical information quickly and embed quality principles effectively.
  • Operate confidently within defence‑aligned environments (defence experience highly beneficial).

Why Apply?

This is a chance to take ownership of a business‑critical, defence‑aligned quality workstream, directly contributing to the safe operation of specialist equipment used in demanding maritime environments.

Ganymede is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer.
