Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Job Purpose
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring products, materials, and processes meet defined quality standards and customer specifications. The role supports the Quality Manager in monitoring, inspecting, testing, and documenting quality data to maintain compliance with internal processes, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement objectives.
Inspection & Testing

  • Conduct visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical, or functional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
  • Use measurement tools such as Calipers, Micrometers, multimeters, gauges, CMMs, test rigs, or computer-based inspection systems.
  • Perform batch testing, sample testing, first-off inspections, and final release checks.
  • Verify compliance to technical drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Record inspection results accurately, following company documentation standards.
  • Maintain inspection logs, certificates of conformity, test sheets, and calibration records.
  • Report non-conformances (NCRs) to the Quality Manager and assist in root cause analysis.
  • Support the generation of quality reports, KPI data, and trend analysis.

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Work in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO45001 or other relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 13485, AS9100, IATF 16949).
  • Ensure quality control procedures are followed at all times.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Assist in maintaining calibration of inspection and test equipment.

Essential

  • Experience in quality inspection or manufacturing/production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Competent in the use of inspection tools (e.g., calipers, gauges, microscopes, multimeters).
  • Good understanding of quality principles and ISO standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Good IT skills (Excel, ERP/MRP systems, quality databases).
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of health & safety responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.

Desirable

  • Formal qualification in engineering, manufacturing, or quality (NVQ, HNC, BTEC, etc.).
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), sampling plans, or process capability.
  • Experience in electronics, CNC machining, mechanical assembly, or specialised industries.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or continuous improvement techniques.
  • Previous experience working in ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or AS9100 environments.
