Futures Recruitment are working with a well-established and highly regarded manufacturer of precision metal components in the Leeds area who is looking to recruit an experienced Quality Inspector.

This is a hands-on quality position within a busy manufacturing environment, with the successful candidate responsible for carrying out in-process and final inspection of manufactured metal components, ensuring products consistently meet drawing, dimensional and customer requirements.

A key requirement for this position is previous experience programming and operating CMM equipment, alongside a good working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.

The Role

  • Carry out in-process inspection of manufactured metal components throughout production.
  • Perform first-off, patrol and final inspection of components against engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Program and operate CMM equipment to carry out accurate dimensional inspection.
  • Use a range of manual measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other inspection equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and component specifications.
  • Identify and report dimensional or quality non-conformances.
  • Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and prevent the manufacture of non-conforming components.
  • Complete and maintain accurate inspection and quality records.
  • Support investigations into internal and customer quality concerns where required.
  • Assist with calibration and control of inspection equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement activities across manufacturing and quality.
  • Ensure inspection activities and documentation are completed in accordance with the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Quality Inspector, Quality Technician or similar within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Essential – hands-on experience programming and operating CMM equipment.
  • Essential – working knowledge and practical experience of ISO 9001.
  • Previous experience inspecting metal or precision-engineered components.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional inspection and measurement techniques.
  • Confident interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications.
  • Experience using manual inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to inspection.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the confidence to raise quality concerns with production teams.
  • Able to maintain accurate inspection records and work effectively within an established quality system.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.

This position would suit an experienced Quality Inspector who enjoys being hands-on and visible within the manufacturing environment rather than being solely focused on quality administration.
