We’re looking for a Quality Improvement Technician / Inspector to join our manufacturing team and play a key role in driving quality, process improvement and continuous improvement across the business.
This is a shop-floor focused role where you’ll work closely with Production, Quality, Process Engineering and suppliers to identify issues, find the root cause and make sure they don’t happen again.
Commutable from Birmingham, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Tyesley, Aston, Moseley, Harbourne, Coleshill Oldbury, Kings Norton and Rubery
Duties
- Take ownership of quality and process controls across manufacturing
- Investigate quality issues and drive corrective and preventative actions
- Carry out product and process audits
- Manage supplier quality issues, including defect reporting and non-conformance
- Work directly with suppliers on inspection and validation of parts
- Support Production with day-to-day quality and process problems
- Collect and analyse quality data to identify trends and opportunities
- Identify and deliver quality improvement projects
- Support NPI, new projects and product approvals
- Review and improve process controls, work instructions and quality documentation
- Help reduce variation, improve reliability and drive better operational performance
- Champion Lean, 5S and good housekeeping throughout the business
- Support continuous improvement activity focused on efficiency, productivity and cost reduction
Requirements
- Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
- Experience working within a quality function or quality management system
- Confidence dealing with suppliers and quality issues
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Good IT skills, particularly Excel
You’ll be quality-focused, practical and solutions-driven, with the confidence to get involved at every level — from investigating issues on the shop floor to working with suppliers and supporting wider improvement projects.
