Quality Management Advisor

Winshall are seeking to employ a Quality Management Advisor (Integrated Management Systems - ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001.
Based in Talbot Green, near Cardiff, Winshall deliver high voltage projects across the UK, specialising in both the civil and electrical disciplines. Our main focus is that of building substations and we are committed to being at the forefront of the high-voltage industry through the collaboration of mechanical, electrical and civil engineering services as an all-encompassing project management specialist.
Job Purpose
To support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of an Integrated Management System (IMS) aligned with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety).
The role ensures compliance with standards, enhances operational performance, reduces risk, and promotes a culture of quality, environmental responsibility, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Management Systems Implementation & Maintenance
Maintain and continuously improve the Integrated Management System (IMS).
Ensure alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
Support certification, surveillance, and recertification audits.
Develop and review policies, procedures, and documented information.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
Monitor changes in regulatory and ISO requirements and advise the business accordingly.
Conduct compliance audits and gap analyses.
Internal Auditing
Plan, conduct, and report on internal audits across all business functions.
Identify non-conformances and improvement opportunities.
Track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure.
Risk Management
Facilitate risk assessments (quality, environmental aspects, OH&S hazards).
Support development of control measures and mitigation strategies.
Maintain risk registers and compliance records.
Training & Awareness
Deliver training on IMS procedures and ISO requirements.
Promote awareness of quality, environmental, and safety responsibilities.
Coach managers and staff on best practices.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Develop and monitor KPIs and objectives linked to IMS.
Analyse data trends and report on system performance.
Support management review meetings.
Incident & Non-Conformance Management
Investigate quality issues, environmental incidents, and workplace accidents.
Lead root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone).
Implement and verify corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement
Drive improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma where applicable).
Identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
Support business transformation projects.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards
Internal/Lead Auditor qualification (preferred)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement ability
Attention to detail and documentation control
Ability to influence and drive cultural change
Organised with strong planning and reporting skills
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Proven experience in quality, environmental, or health & safety management
Experience maintaining ISO-certified systems
Internal auditing experience
Knowledge of UK legislation (HSE, environmental regulations)
Desirable
Lead Auditor qualification (IRCA or equivalent)
NEBOSH / IOSH certification (for ISO 45001 scope)
Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA)
Degree in relevant discipline (Engineering, Environmental Science, Business)
Additional Experience (Desirable)
Experience working with National Grid Transmission (NGET) or similar UK utility/energy infrastructure organisations would be a distinct advantage.
Familiarity with National Grid standards, procedures, and compliance expectations.
Understanding of working within regulated environments, high‑risk infrastructure projects, and contractor assurance frameworks.
