A major construction project within a secure defence environment is looking to appoint an experienced Quality Manager to play a key role in delivering one of the South West's most significant construction programmes.

Working on a live operational site, the Quality Manager will lead all aspects of quality assurance, compliance and continuous improvement, ensuring robust quality management systems are in place while supporting successful project delivery.

Due to the nature of the project, security clearance will be required before starting. Please note this process can take several weeks, and eligibility may be subject to nationality and residency requirements.

The Role

As Quality Manager, you'll take ownership of the project's quality management strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders to maintain the highest standards across all aspects of delivery.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining the project's Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Setting quality objectives that align with wider business and project goals
  • Leading internal and external audits, including certification activities
  • Managing and developing the quality team, including recruitment, mentoring and performance management
  • Investigating and resolving complex quality issues through cross-functional collaboration
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, client expectations and recognised industry standards
  • Producing quality performance reports for senior leadership and client teams
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting quality-focused risk management
About You

We're looking for an experienced Quality Manager with a strong background in construction, civil engineering or major infrastructure projects.

You'll ideally have:
  • Professional qualification with a minimum of 8 years' post-qualification experience, or at least 12 years' relevant industry experience
  • HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, Quality or a related discipline
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification
  • CSCS White PQP/AQP card
  • CSCS Managers card
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO standards
  • Proven leadership experience managing quality teams
  • Strong communication, planning and strategic decision-making skills
  • Expertise in audit management, compliance and continuous improvement
  • The ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at senior level
