About the Role
Unipart Manufacturing is launching a flagship, fast-paced manufacturing project in Coventry, combining high-volume electrification assembly with complex injection moulding inputs.  Fully aligned with Unipart’s Sector and Growth Strategy and The Unipart Way Forward Plan, this exciting venture will scale rapidly from zero to over 200 team members within a four-month period.  We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to drive quality strategy, regulatory compliance, and system integrity across complex manufacturing assemblies - integrating electrification systems, injection-moulded components, and specialised welding processes.  Joining at the ground level, you will establish quality frameworks, oversee supply chain assurance, and ensure absolute adherence to rigorous defence standards in a dynamic, evolving project environment.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll focus on:
Strategic Quality Leadership - Champion the quality strategy, quality management systems (QMS), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across new product introductions (NPI) and production, driving zero-defect culture and continuous improvement
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight - Lead compliance against aerospace and defence quality management systems (AS9100, ISO 9001) and UK MoD procedural standards (AQAP 2110 / DEF STAN 05-61)
Specialised Process Governance - Oversee product assurance for complex manufacturing inputs, including electrification safety/ingress standards, plastic injection moulding tolerances, and structural welding operations
Customer and Supplier Assurance - Act as the direct quality interface for clients, tier-1 suppliers, and internal management, overseeing 8D problem-solving, concessions, PPAP, and audit frameworks
SHE and Safety Management - Ensure all quality activities align strictly with Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) procedures, statutory legislation, and national security requirements

About You
We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!
Proven Quality Leadership - Demonstrated track record as a Quality Manager (or Senior Quality Engineer) leading teams within high-precision manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or defence environments
Technical Standards and Legislation Expertise - In-depth working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001, AQAP 2110, and DEF STANs (e.g., DEF STAN 05-61 for concessions, DEF STAN 61-5 for electrical power safety)
Complex Manufacturing Inputs - Hands-on quality experience across electro-mechanical integration, plastic injection moulding tolerances (ISO 20457 / UL 94 flammability), and structural welding standards
NPI and Core Quality Tools - Expert in advanced quality planning frameworks including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and root-cause analysis (8D/5-Why)
