Quanity Surveyor
Rogers McHugh Recruitment
You are an experienced Quantity Surveyor who has built your career on the contractor side of construction. You enjoy being close to the projects, working alongside delivery teams and having a real influence on commercial performance rather than sitting at arm's length from site activity.
You take ownership, ask the right questions and are confident managing the commercial side of projects from start to finish. You are looking for a role where your experience is valued, your opinion matters and you can genuinely see the impact of the work you do.
If your background is in SME construction, interior fit out, shopfitting or specialist subcontracting, you will feel right at home here.
Your experienceYou will already have practical contractor side Quantity Surveying experience and understand the pace and challenges that come with delivering construction projects.
You will have experience managing project costs from award through to final account, producing valuations, pricing and negotiating variations, managing subcontractor packages and keeping a close eye on commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
You will be comfortable working with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors and suppliers while applying your knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT and NEC principles where appropriate. A good understanding of RICS professional standards will also help you succeed.
This role is not suited to someone whose experience has been solely within consultancy, professional services, cost management practice or PQS environments.
What you will be doing with your experienceYou will take ownership of the commercial management of a varied portfolio of construction and interior fit out projects, making sure each one is delivered profitably while maintaining strong commercial control throughout.
Your day will include preparing budgets and forecasts, producing commercial reports, managing valuations, payment applications and final accounts, pricing variations and identifying commercial risks before they become problems.
You will procure and manage subcontractor packages, negotiate agreements and support Project Managers with commercial decisions that help projects succeed.
This is a role where you will have the freedom to influence decisions, build strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners and play an important part in the continued growth of the business.
The salary is between £55,000 and £65,000 with a £5,000 car allowance, alongside opportunities for professional development and future progression.
About the businessYou will be joining a growing and ambitious specialist contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality construction and interior fit out projects across a diverse range of sectors.
It is the kind of business where people know each other, senior leaders are approachable and good ideas are listened to. Your contribution will be recognised, you will have the opportunity to take real ownership of your projects and you will be trusted to make a difference.
If you enjoy working in a collaborative environment where commercial success is built on teamwork, accountability and delivering for clients, this is a business that will give you the platform to do your best work.
