Quantity Surveyor

Bluebook Partners

Quantity Surveyor

Location: London SE1 (Project-based & Office)
Salary: £80k to £90k + bens

I'm partnered with a  premier, highly successful specialist structural alterations/cut & carve/structural refurbishment contractor who've operated across London for over 50 years. As a trusted principal contractor, working directly for clients/consultants, they tackle complex, high-profile commercial and grade-listed structural packages valued up to £5m.

Why join? Unmatched stability & growth

In an unpredictable market, this company offers a rare environment of financial security and long-term career progression.

  • True financial stability: They've built an exceptional, stable financial profile with strong, steady cash flows and an active, long-term order book. It means they don't chase reckless volume; instead focusing on secure, high-margin specialist engineering.
  • Real career progression: This company actively avoids pigeonholing staff. You will manage complex, technically diverse schemes, fast-tracking your commercial skills and positioning you for rapid advancement into Senior and Commercial Management roles.

Working closely with the commercial and operational leadership, you will take full commercial ownership of complex enabling works, cut & carve and structural refurbishment projects.

What you'll be up to

  • Commercial ownership: Manage the commercial life cycle of major packages including demolition, underpinning, temporary works, buildersworks and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Financial controls: Drive cost planning, variations, CVRs, final accounts, and cash flow management to protect project margins.
  • Subcontractor management: Handle procurement, contract negotiation, and monthly valuations seamlessly.
  • Client dvisory: Partner directly with Tier-1 main contractors and private clients to manage risks and maximize profitability.

Desirable experience

  • Sector experience: A track record working for a specialist contractor within complex structural refurbishment
  • Technical exposure: Familiarity with structural alterations, groundwork, piling, concrete, or complex temporary works packages is highly advantageous. Strong negotiation skills, a sharp eye for contractual detail, and an ability to protect project margins.
  • Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant commercial/construction discipline would be ideal

If you're considering a new career challenge, and your priority is "peace of mind" stability with genuine career progression, this could be the one. At the very least, it's worth a conversation - you never know.
