Quantity Surveyor - The Company

Our client is a leading national property services contractor delivering a wide range of planned maintenance, refurbishment and compliance works across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their successful Fire Protection division based either Newport of Bristol office.

The team delivers fire safety improvement works including fire door replacement programmes across a varied portfolio of projects for housing providers, public sector clients, education and commercial buildings.

Quantity Surveyor - The Role

Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of fire protection projects from procurement through to final account. Projects are generally within 1 hour of Bristol. 

Working alongside operational teams, you will manage costs, valuations, subcontractor accounts and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered profitably whilst maintaining excellent client relationships.

Although primarily focused on Fire Protection works, you will also support other workstreams within the business during periods of changing workload, making this a varied and interesting role within a collaborative commercial team.

Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of multiple fire protection projects.
  • Prepare and submit client valuations and applications for payment.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and final accounts.
  • Monitor project costs, forecasts and profitability.
  • Produce cost reports and financial forecasts.
  • Negotiate variations and contractual changes.
  • Work closely with operational teams to maximise project performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure commercial processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support other commercial workstreams where required as part of a collaborative team.

Quantity Surveyor - The Person

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, refurbishment or property services.
  • Strong commercial awareness with good contractual knowledge.
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts and client valuations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Organised with strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
  • Flexible approach and willing to support different business workstreams when required.
  • Looking for a long-term career rather than frequent job moves.
  • Full UK driving licence.
