You will work closely with the wider commercial and operational teams, taking responsibility for the commercial management of your projects while receiving support from experienced senior members of the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial performance of projects from procurement through to final account
- Subcontract procurement and package management
- Preparing valuations and payment applications
- Cost reporting and forecasting
- Managing variations and changes
- Subcontractor account management
- Reviewing project costs and identifying commercial opportunities
- Monthly cost/value reconciliation
- Managing and negotiating subcontractor accounts
- Supporting project teams with commercial and contractual matters
- Preparing and agreeing final accounts
- Working closely with the commercial and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably
About You
We are interested in speaking with Quantity Surveyors at different stages of their career. You could be:
- An experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to take ownership of projects.
- Or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who has developed a strong commercial grounding and is now ready to step up into a project-level position with greater responsibility.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience with a specialist subcontractor - Groundworks, RC frame, concrete, civils or basement experience
- Experience with subcontract procurement and account management
- Understanding of valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts
- Strong commercial awareness
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- A proactive approach and desire to develop
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- The business has delivered major projects across London and the Home Counties, including high-rise RC frame schemes and complex basement projects. Its project portfolio includes both residential and non-residential developments.
- For an Assistant QS, this represents an opportunity to move into genuine project-level responsibility rather than simply remain in a supporting role.
- The company also places a strong emphasis on employee development, mentoring and training, with investment in career development and professional education forming part of its wider approach to developing its people.
