Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor (Asbestos)

ProGroup Recruitment is working with a well-established specialist contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Reading-based commercial team.

Operating across specialist, compliance-led contracting environments, our client is looking to strengthen its Asbestos division with an experienced commercial professional who can support projects across the full commercial lifecycle.

This position would suit an established Quantity Surveyor looking for their next step or a Senior Quantity Surveyor seeking a role with genuine scope for continued progression within a large, established business.

The role will be based from the Reading office, with regular travel to project sites and some working away and overnight stays required.

Key responsibilities:

As Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management and support of projects, including:

  • Preparing and managing applications and invoices in line with contractual requirements
  • Managing contract changes and change events through to successful commercial outcomes
  • Reviewing and ensuring adherence to contract terms and conditions
  • Providing commercial support to operational and project teams
  • Producing monthly WIP and Cost Value Reports
  • Reviewing weekly operational reports for commercial tracking
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, orders, applications, change and final accounts
  • Monitoring debtors and assisting with outstanding payments where required
  • Managing WIP levels, project costs, revenue and gross profit reporting
  • Supporting programme management on NEC projects
  • Resolving client financial and contractual issues
  • Mentoring junior members of the commercial team where appropriate

About you:

To be considered, you should ideally have:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar industry-recognised qualification
  • A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate Quantity Surveying experience
  • Previous experience working within a contractor environment
  • Experience with applications, valuations and contract change management
  • Subcontractor procurement and commercial management experience
  • A good working knowledge of standard construction contracts, particularly JCT, NEC3 and NEC4

Experience within Asbestos or another specialist and compliance-led contracting environment would be particularly relevant.
