Reception SEN Teaching Assistant – Lambeth, SW2 We are currently seeking a dedicated and nurturing Reception SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Tulse Hill, Lambeth (SW2) from September.
This is a rewarding long-term opportunity to work on the school's mainstream site, providing 1:1 support to a Reception-aged child with special educational needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child's learning, development, social skills and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
The Role As a Reception SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with SEN.
  • Support the child's academic, social and emotional development.
  • Implement strategies and interventions recommended by the SENCO and external professionals.
  • Encourage positive engagement in classroom activities and routines.
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff team.
  • Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil and their family.
The Ideal Candidate The school is looking for someone who:
  • Has previous experience working with children with SEN, either in a school, nursery or similar setting.
  • Has a patient, caring and nurturing approach.
  • Is confident supporting children with communication, learning or developmental needs.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Is reliable, proactive and committed to helping children succeed.
  • Holds a relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential).
