Recovery Theatre Practitioner

We are working alongside a leading healthcare provider to recruit a dedicated Recovery Theatre Practitioner.This is an exciting opportunity to add real value to patients within an acute hospital setting working Ad hoc shifts opportunities across a 7-day week This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join a busy theatre team, providing outstanding post-operative care in a recovery setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, effective post-operative care to patients within the recovery environment.
  • Monitor and assess patients following surgery, identifying and escalating changes in condition promptly.
  • Manage airway support, patient observations and recovery interventions in line with clinical best practice.
  • Assess and manage post-operative pain, nausea and overall patient comfort.
  • Support patients through the recovery process and ensure readiness for discharge from the recovery area.
  • Ensure all theatre, recovery and anaesthetic equipment is checked, prepared and maintained appropriately.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety and clinical governance standards at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and efficient patient care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional and supportive theatre environment

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Experience or training within a theatre environment specialising in anaesthetics and recovery.
  • Strong understanding of patient safety, infection control and manual handling principles.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure within a fast-paced theatre environment.
  • Strong assessment skills and the ability to respond quickly to changing patient needs.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a recovery unit or post-anaesthetic care unit (PACU).
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
  • Experience supporting a variety of surgical specialities.
  • Knowledge of clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
