We are delighted to be supporting a leading healthcare provider with the recruitment of a dedicated Scrub Nurse / Theatre Practitioner to join their Theatre team. This is an exciting opportunity to add real value to patients within an acute hospital setting working Ad hoc shifts opportunities across a 7-day week. This is an excellent opportunity for a theatre professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and maintaining the highest standards of surgical practice within a fast-paced operating theatre environment
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating theatres and surgical equipment in advance of procedures, ensuring everything is ready for safe and effective patient care.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility and anticipating surgical requirements.
- Ensure all surgical instruments, equipment and consumables are available, functioning correctly and safe for use.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, maintaining the highest standards of theatre cleanliness and sterility.
- Support the wider theatre team in delivering safe, effective and efficient surgical lists.
- Monitor and promote patient safety throughout the perioperative journey.
- Identify and escalate equipment issues, clinical concerns or risks appropriately.
- Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, recovery staff and multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with clinical governance and best-practice standards.
- Contribute to a positive, professional and supportive theatre environment.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
- Experience or training within a theatre environment, with a focus on scrub practice.
- Strong understanding of infection control, patient safety and manual handling principles.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy and dynamic theatre setting.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
