Recruitment Operations & Systems Specialist
Hays Business Support
Liverpool City Centre | Hybrid 3 days from home
£175 - £200 per day PAYE (all-inclusive) | 7 hours per day
We're working with a local government organisation in Liverpool that is preparing to bring in an experienced Recruitment Operations professional to stabilise and oversee recruitment activity during a sustained period of high volume. This role sits outside of day-to-day recruitment delivery. Instead, it exists to keep recruitment activity moving, visible and accountable - particularly where volume, system issues or stakeholder delays risk slowing things down.
The role
You'll operate at the centre of the recruitment function, acting as the operational link between Hiring Managers, Business Partners and Recruitment Officers. Your focus will be on flow, tracking and momentum rather than filling roles yourself.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining a helicopter view across all live recruitment activity and trackers
- Monitoring progress at each stage of the recruitment process and identifying bottlenecks early
- Proactively chasing actions where CVs, shortlists or approvals have stalled
- Escalating delays appropriately to keep vacancies moving at pace.
- Ensuring recruitment trackers accurately reflect real-time activity
- Holding Recruitment Officers accountable for progress against their workloads
- Stepping in to provide operational support during peak periods or holiday cover where required
Recruitment Officers within the team are typically managing around 30 live vacancies each, so this role plays a key part in maintaining control and consistency across the wider pipeline.
Systems experience - essential
This is a system-critical role.
The organisation has recently implemented iTrent / MyHR, and while embedded, the system still presents technical challenges. The successful individual must be confident in navigating these issues without disrupting the recruitment flow.
You must have:
- Hands-on experience using iTrent and/or MyHR in a recruitment environment
- A strong understanding of how recruitment workflows operate within these systems
- The ability to recognise system-related issues versus process delays
- Experience applying practical workarounds to keep recruitment moving despite glitches
About youYou are likely to come from a background in:
- Recruitment operations / workforce coordination
- High-volume or public sector recruitment environments
- TA teams where tracking, compliance and pace are critical
You'll be:
- Highly organised and comfortable working at pace.
- Confident, chasing senior stakeholders and escalating where needed
- Pragmatic, process-focused and systems-savvy
- Able to step into a busy team and add value quickly
Why apply?
- Strong day rate - £175 - £200 per day PAYE (all-inclusive) for a clearly scoped, non‑delivery role
- Interim contract (3-6 months) - immediate impact, with realistic scope to extend due to sustained workload
- Sought‑after local government organisation - well‑established, professional Talent Acquisition function
- Central Liverpool location - easy commute, no ambiguity around on‑site expectations
- Defined remit - you're brought in to control workflow, unblock issues and keep recruitment moving, not to "do everything"
- Systems-led role - your iTrent / MyHR experience is the reason you're here and will be used from day one.
- Opportunity to hit the ground running in a busy environment where pace, visibility and accountability genuinely matter
