Recycling Operative

Duties

• Sort and separate recyclable materials such as plastics, metals, paper, and electronics with precision and efficiency
• Operate heavy machinery and equipment safely, including balers, conveyors, and shredders
• Conduct heavy lifting of recyclable items to ensure proper handling and processing
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas by clearing debris and ensuring waste is correctly sorted for recycling
• Perform routine inspections of machinery to identify maintenance needs or potential safety hazards
• Follow all safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents and promote a secure working environment
• Assist in the loading and unloading of recyclable materials from trucks or containers as needed

Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge or experience with operating industrial equipment is highly desirable
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely throughout the shift
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in sorting processes
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
• Commitment to following safety procedures at all times
• Previous experience in waste management or recycling operations is a plus but not mandatory
