Registered Manager – Children's Residential Home (EBD)

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire (B97)

Salary: £60,000–£70,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Performance Bonus

Build Something That Makes a Lasting Difference

This is more than a Registered Manager position.

It's an opportunity to lead the registration, development, and long-term success of a brand-new 3-bed children's residential home supporting children and young people aged 5–18 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

We're looking for an experienced, passionate, and ambitious Registered Manager who wants to create an Outstanding home from day one—someone who is excited by the opportunity to shape the culture, recruit their own team, influence the environment, and build a service where children genuinely feel safe, valued, and able to thrive.

The home will operate with a small, family-centred ethos, combining therapeutic principles, nurturing relationships, and high-quality care to help every child achieve positive outcomes.

About the Opportunity

The service is being developed by a highly supportive and hands-on Director with a genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.

Extensive preparation has already been completed, including the majority of the SC1 application, policies, procedures, and operational documentation. Rather than inheriting a fully established service, you'll play an integral role in completing the registration process and bringing your own ideas, experience, and leadership to create a home you can be proud of.

You'll receive ongoing support throughout the registration process while having the autonomy to influence the home's development, staffing structure, and operational approach.

The organisation is committed to providing children with more than just excellent care. Significant investment will be made into therapeutic support, enrichment activities, education, and life experiences to help every child reach their full potential.

Clinical consultation and reflective practice will also be available to support both you and your team.

The Role

As the Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for successfully registering, opening, and managing the home while ensuring children receive exceptional care in a safe, nurturing, and stable environment.

You will:

  • Lead the successful Ofsted registration and opening of the home.

  • Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing residential care team.

  • Hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home.

  • Ensure full compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.

  • Create a warm, therapeutic, child-centred environment where children can flourish.

  • Lead a positive culture focused on relationships, stability, and outstanding care.

  • Oversee safeguarding, quality assurance, risk management, and governance.

  • Develop and review individual care plans that promote positive outcomes.

  • Build excellent relationships with local authorities, families, schools, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.

  • Deliver high-quality supervision, coaching, and professional development for your team.

  • Manage referrals, admissions, occupancy, budgets, and overall operational performance.

  • Drive continuous improvement with the ambition of achieving Outstanding Ofsted outcomes.

About You

To be successful as our Registered Manager, you'll have:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

  • Previous experience opening and registering a children's residential home.

  • At least two years' experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within children's residential care.

  • Excellent knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and safeguarding legislation.

  • Strong leadership, organisational, and people management skills.

  • Experience developing positive relationships with local authorities and commissioning teams.

  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.

What's on Offer?

In addition to a competitive salary, our Registered Manager will receive:

  • Salary of £60,000–£70,000, depending on experience.

  • Performance-related bonuses for:

    • Successful Ofsted registration.

    • Achieving full occupancy.

    • Good or Outstanding Ofsted inspections.

  • Pension scheme.

  • Free on-site parking.

  • Clinical consultation and reflective practice support.

  • Ongoing professional development and leadership training.

  • The opportunity to build and shape your own service from the very beginning.
