We are looking for a Residential Childcare Practitioner to join our 4 bed home in Reading. We welcome applications from both Qualified, experienced childcare workers and unqualified individuals who would like a change in direction.
We are proud to have achieved an outstanding Ofsted rating for the past two consecutive years and are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, and caring individuals to join our team.
The role includes evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and regular sleep-in duties (1–2 per week), with an additional allowance of £50 per sleep-in.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Support children and young people with all aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, health needs, administering medication, and developing independence and life skills.
- Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent care and positive role modelling, helping young people make safe and constructive choices.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times, recognising and responding appropriately to any concerns.
- Support children to access education, including assisting with homework, liaising with schools, and attending relevant meetings when required.
- Contribute to care planning by maintaining accurate records and providing information for placement plans, behaviour support strategies, and risk assessments.
- Work as part of a dedicated team, attending meetings and training, while participating in a rota that includes evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in duties.

- A genuine commitment to engaging with children who have challenging behaviour and complex history.
- Ability to react calmly in stressful situations.
- The ability to create positive relationships with the children, meeting their needs and safeguarding them at all times.
- Flexibility to undertake shift work including evening, weekends and bank holidays, and occasional sleep-ins.
- The ability to be a good role model.
- High personal and professional standards.
- NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People Workforce (or willingness to complete).
- Full, clean UK Driving Licence (Preferred).
