An established and growing SME within the manufacturing and engineering sector is looking for a Sales & Estimating Coordinator to join its friendly and collaborative team.

Due to an increase in customer enquiries and Requests for Quotations (RfQs), the business is looking for an organised, commercially minded individual to provide additional support to the sales and estimating process.

This is a flexible part-time opportunity, with a number of working patterns available to suit individual circumstances. Options could include four or five days per week with reduced hours or three full days per week.

The Role

Working closely with the Sales Manager and colleagues across the business, you will help ensure customer quotations are prepared accurately, efficiently and on time.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accurate customer quotations using technical drawings, specifications and customer enquiries.
• Creating and maintaining quotation costings using Microsoft Excel.
• Obtaining and following up supplier quotations, particularly for raw materials and metal prices.
• Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times and technical information where required.
• Working closely with Sales, Purchasing, Production and Engineering to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Maintaining quotation records and ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
• Supporting the wider sales function with general administrative and commercial activities.
• Helping to improve and streamline existing Excel quotation templates and processes.
• Managing information from multiple sources and ensuring enquiries are followed through to completion.
• Working to deadlines within a target-driven sales environment.

About You

This role would suit someone who is highly organised, numerate and commercially aware, with excellent attention to detail.

You don't necessarily need to have a perfect career history or extensive estimating experience. A reliable person with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and a genuine 'can-do' attitude is more important.

You will ideally have:

• Excellent organisational and administration skills.
• Confidence working with Microsoft Excel and large spreadsheets.
• Good mental arithmetic and confidence working with numbers.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• A proactive approach to managing information, emails and incoming enquiries.
• The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
• A friendly and outgoing personality, with the confidence to communicate with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• A flexible approach and willingness to get involved across different areas of the sales function.
• The ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
• A goal-oriented and positive approach.
• A clean UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous, although they are not essential:

• Experience with export shipping processes or documentation.
• Knowledge of the metal industry or metal markets.
• Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience preparing quotations or cost estimates.
• Willingness to attend trade shows a few times a year, with reasonable advance notice.
