Complete Classroom Services is currently recruiting an experienced School Caretaker to support a school in the Cambridge (CB24) area. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual who takes pride in maintaining safe, secure, and well-presented school premises.

We are looking for a hands-on and dependable professional with previous caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site management experience who can contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the school.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Opening and closing the school site, ensuring buildings are secure at all times.

• Carrying out routine site inspections and health & safety checks.

• Performing minor repairs, maintenance, decorating, and general DIY tasks.

• Conducting weekly fire alarm tests and maintaining accurate records.

• Monitoring emergency exits, lighting, heating, and water systems.

• Supporting compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and site security procedures.

• Ensuring the school grounds, classrooms, communal areas, and external spaces are clean, safe, and well-maintained.

• Coordinating deliveries and distributing items to the appropriate departments.

• Liaising with contractors and supervising works carried out on site.

• Assisting with room setups for assemblies, events, examinations, and school functions.

• Monitoring stock levels and ordering maintenance and cleaning supplies when required.

• Reporting maintenance issues and supporting planned preventative maintenance activities.

• Supporting the wider school team to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for pupils and staff.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience as a School Caretaker, Site Supervisor, Facilities Assistant, Premises Officer, or similar role.

• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.

• Knowledge of health & safety procedures and site compliance.

• Experience carrying out fire alarm checks and routine building inspections.

• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

• Strong communication and organisational skills.

• A proactive and professional approach to work.

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to pay for a new DBS)
