School Administration & Finance Officer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised School Administration & Finance Officer to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong administrative and financial experience within a school environment who is confident using SIMS and understands the day-to-day operational and financial requirements of a busy school.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the school's administration and finance functions while providing excellent support to staff, pupils, parents and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Administration

  • Manage the school's Management Information System (SIMS), ensuring pupil and staff records are accurate and up to date.

  • Process admissions, leavers and pupil data in accordance with statutory requirements.

  • Produce reports and maintain school records.

  • Support the Senior Leadership Team with administrative tasks.

  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and school policies.

Finance

  • Process purchase orders, invoices and supplier payments.

  • Reconcile bank accounts and financial records.

  • Monitor budgets and expenditure.

  • Manage income collection, including trips, clubs and other school payments.

  • Liaise with suppliers and resolve invoice queries.

  • Support month-end and year-end financial procedures.

  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with school financial regulations.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous administration and finance experience within a UK school.

  • Strong working knowledge of SIMS.

  • Experience using school finance systems (such as FMS, PS Financials or similar).

  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of school admissions processes.

  • Experience working within local authority or academy schools.
