A secondary school in Nottingham is seeking a reliable Science Technician to join their Science Department on a temporary basis. Working through Hays Education, you'll play a key role in preparing resources and supporting practical science teaching across all key disciplines.

Key Duties:

  • Prepare and set up equipment for science lessons and practical activities.
  • Support teachers with experiments and demonstrations.
  • Maintain, clean and test laboratory equipment.
  • Monitor and replenish science stock and resources.
  • Ensure laboratories remain safe and compliant.
  • Store and dispose of chemicals in line with procedures.
  • Assist with risk assessments and departmental records.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Science Department.

Requirements:

  • Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience desirable.
  • Science-related qualifications beneficial.
  • Understanding of laboratory health and safety practices.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
