Quantum Scholars is looking for experienced, supportive and dedicated Science Tutors to work with children and young people across Berkshire. These are in-person tutoring opportunities and are not online roles.
The role involves providing personalised Science tuition to learners who may have additional learning needs, SEND requirements or social, emotional and mental health needs. Tutors will be expected to build positive and trusting relationships with learners, provide a consistent approach to learning and adapt their teaching to meet individual needs.
We are looking for Science Tutors who are passionate about helping young people re-engage with education, develop their subject knowledge, build confidence and make meaningful academic and personal progress.
The Role May Involve
- Delivering one-to-one or small-group Science tuition
- Supporting learners across areas of Science, depending on their age, ability and individual learning needs
- Supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
- Planning engaging, accessible and personalised Science lessons and activities
- Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
- Breaking down complex scientific concepts into accessible and engaging learning
- Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with learners
- Helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
- Supporting learners who may have struggled within a traditional school environment
- Encouraging students to re-engage with education and develop their learning skills
- Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
- Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
- Maintaining clear and professional communication
- Following safeguarding procedures at all times
Essential Requirements
- Strong subject knowledge in Science
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, tutoring or support setting
- Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
- Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised support is desirable
- The ability to adapt teaching and learning approaches to meet individual needs
- Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
- A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
- The ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people
- A genuine commitment to helping children and young people achieve their potential
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check, where required
- Satisfactory professional references
- You must have the right to work in the UK
