Quantum Scholars is looking for experienced, supportive and dedicated Science Tutors to work with children and young people across Wokingham. These are in-person tutoring opportunities and are not online roles.

The role will involve providing personalised Science tuition to learners who may have additional learning needs, SEND requirements or social, emotional and mental health needs. Tutors will be expected to build positive and trusting relationships with learners, provide a consistent approach to learning and adapt their teaching to meet individual needs.

We are looking for Science Tutors who are passionate about helping young people re-engage with education, develop their subject knowledge, build confidence and make meaningful academic and personal progress.

The Role

The successful Science Tutor will deliver one-to-one or small-group tuition, supporting learners across different areas of Science depending on their age, ability and individual learning needs. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, accessible and personalised lessons, adapting your teaching approach to suit each learner.

The role may involve supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs, including learners who may have struggled to engage within a traditional school environment. You will be expected to break down complex scientific concepts into accessible learning, encourage positive attitudes towards education and help students develop confidence, resilience and independence.

All tutors must follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate will have strong subject knowledge in Science and experience working with children or young people within an educational, tutoring or support setting.

Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs is essential. Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised support is desirable, along with the ability to adapt teaching and learning approaches to meet individual needs.

You will need strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills, alongside a patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach. Most importantly, you should have a genuine commitment to helping children and young people achieve their potential.

Candidates must also be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check where required and provide satisfactory professional references.

You must have the right to work in the UK.

Quantum Scholars is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to appropriate safeguarding and safer recruitment checks.
