About the Opportunity

Astro Education is currently recruiting Secondary Teachers to support schools across Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas, including Hanley, Burslem, Tunstall, Longton, Fenton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Kidsgrove, Stoke and Stafford.

We are working closely with a number of secondary schools looking for reliable and enthusiastic teachers to provide both day-to-day supply and long-term cover across a range of subjects.

Supply teaching offers a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in different schools, maintain flexibility, and achieve a better work-life balance, while still making a meaningful impact in the classroom.

Whether you are an experienced teacher, Early Career Teacher (ECT), or returning to teaching after a break, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and effective lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Follow lesson plans and ensure continuity of learning during staff absences
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
• Support students of varying abilities to achieve their potential
• Work collaboratively with school staff and follow safeguarding procedures

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or equivalent
• Experience teaching within a secondary school setting
• Strong classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• A passion for education and supporting young people
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Eligibility to work in the UK
