We're looking for compassionate, resilient and dedicated individuals to join our team as an SEMH Teaching Assistant, supporting children and young people in specialist schools and alternative provisions across South East and East London.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to have a positive impact on students who may have experienced barriers to learning and need additional support to thrive both academically and emotionally.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students.
- Support behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation.
- Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Encourage positive social interactions and personal development.
- Assist with classroom activities and learning interventions.
- Support students in reaching their individual educational and personal goals.
What We're Looking For
We'd love to hear from candidates who:
- Have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
- Possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Are patient, empathetic and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Have a genuine passion for supporting those with additional needs.
- Can demonstrate resilience, adaptability and a positive attitude.
- Hold relevant qualifications or experience in education, care, youth work, sports coaching, mental health support or similar fields (desirable but not essential).
