SEMH Teacher Responsibilities

As the successful SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Support children in achieving their academic, social, and emotional goals.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Make full use of the school’s excellent facilities and specialist resources to maximise learning outcomes.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered, you should have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • A passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them reach their potential.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Availability to attend trial days before September 2026, with flexibility to start earlier if suitable.
