We're working with a well-established firm of Chartered Certified Accountants near Bedford — a close-knit team where clients get a consistent, responsive and genuinely tailored service. You'll work across accounts, tax, bookkeeping and VAT for a varied client base, growing into a trusted adviser rather than just a compliance processor, with real study and technical support behind you.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious semi-senior who wants broad, hands-on exposure and a clear path to develop.
What you'll be doing:
- Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a range of clients from various bookkeeping systems
- Preparing VAT returns, personal tax returns and related compliance work accurately and to deadline
- Completing bookkeeping assignments in line with Making Tax Digital (MTD)
- Keeping accurate accounting records, reconciliations and client files
- Supporting managers with client relationships and responding to client queries
- Helping to onboard and integrate new clients
- Managing your own workload to hit deadlines, budgets and recovery targets
What you'll bring:
- At least two years' experience within an accountancy practice
- Studying towards ACA, ACCA or an equivalent qualification
- Experience preparing statutory accounts for a range of business entities
- Working knowledge of VAT and personal tax compliance
- Strong skills across Microsoft Excel, Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple assignments
- Confident communication and the initiative to work independently
What's on offer:
£28,000 – £38,000 depending on experience, plus study support, ongoing technical and software training, a varied and interesting client base, and a supportive, close-knit team where you'll develop into a trusted adviser.
