Aspire People are proud to be working in partnership with one of our valued specialist primary schools in Leicester to recruit a compassionate and dedicated SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting in September.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a graduate, ideally with a background in Psychology, who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. The role is ideal for anyone considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or SEN Teaching.
Working closely with experienced teachers and SEN professionals, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of complex needs, helping them to access learning, develop key life skills, and achieve meaningful progress.
The Role:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
Support children both inside and outside the classroom, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and engaged in school.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to deliver consistent support.
Help create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every child can succeed.
The Ideal Candidate:
Holds a minimum 2:2 undergraduate degree, ideally in Psychology or a related subject.
Has experience working with children or young people, whether through schools, care settings, tutoring, youth work, or volunteering.
Is comfortable supporting pupils with complex additional needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
Sensory processing difficulties
Challenging behaviour associated with additional needs
Is patient, resilient, empathetic, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.
Can commit to working full-time, Monday to Friday.
