The Role
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students both academically and emotionally.
You will help to create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment where every student feels understood, supported and encouraged to succeed.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting children and young people with Autism, SEMH needs and other additional learning needs
- Providing one-to-one and small group support
- Helping students to access personalised learning programmes
- Supporting emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive behaviour
- Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other members of the wider team
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs
- Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- A strong communicator and team player
- Interested in understanding behaviour and the reasons behind it
- Committed to helping young people develop academically, socially and emotionally
Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEMH, behavioural needs or other additional needs would be beneficial, although the right attitude, transferable skills and genuine passion for supporting young people will also be highly valued.
