Sen Teacher in London, Greater London

Posted by Integrity Education Solutions Limited

£41,500 – £55,000 a year

London · Permanent

Integrity Education Solutions are supporting a brand new independent day special school based in West London with the appointment of two qualified SEND Class Teachers ahead of its planned opening in January 2027.

The school will support pupils aged 8–16 years, with a planned capacity of up to 20 pupils across four small classes. It will provide a calm, nurturing and ambitious environment where pupils are known, valued and supported to develop communication, confidence, independence and preparation for adulthood.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed SEND teacher to join a developing specialist provision and play an important role in establishing high-quality teaching, curriculum and pastoral practice from the outset.

The Role

The successful teacher will each take responsibility for a small class of up to five pupils, delivering a broad and appropriately differentiated curriculum based on pupils’ individual needs, starting points and EHCP outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead teaching, curriculum, assessment, progress and pastoral provision for a small class.
  • Teach across KS2, KS3 and KS4 according to phase and subject expertise.
  • Use assessment effectively to identify progress, gaps and appropriate next steps.
  • Translate EHCP outcomes, communication profiles and assessment information into effective classroom provision.
  • Lead and deploy Teaching Assistants effectively.
  • Work closely with specialist teachers to ensure provision is joined-up across pupils’ wider programmes.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour, attendance, equality and online safety.
  • Contribute to moderation, learning walks, work scrutiny, pupil voice, curriculum review and CPD.
  • Work as part of the safeguarding team and respond appropriately to welfare and child-protection concerns.
  • Provide professional support, modelling and coaching to unqualified teaching colleagues as the school develops.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • QTS, QTLS or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Successful experience teaching children or young people.
  • Secure subject knowledge appropriate to the phase and subjects allocated.
  • A strong understanding of SEND, adaptive teaching, communication and regulation.
  • The ability to plan, teach and assess independently and maintain accurate evidence of pupil progress.
  • Strong safeguarding awareness and professional judgement.
  • The confidence to model effective teaching practice and support colleagues.
  • A collaborative, reflective and pupil-centred approach.

Experience within a special school, alternative provision or SEND resource base would be advantageous, together with experience of autism, ADHD, SEMH, SLCN or complex learning profiles. Experience of GCSE, Functional Skills, Entry Level or AQA Unit Award Scheme would also be beneficial.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to:

  • Teach classes of no more than five pupils and develop strong knowledge of individual learners.
  • Help shape the curriculum, routines and culture of a new specialist school.
  • Contribute to a strong culture of safeguarding, SEND practice and professional development.
  • Work closely with families, local authorities, social-care colleagues and other professionals.
  • Support pupils with enrichment, community learning and preparation for adulthood.
  • Help establish a positive school culture centred around respect, excellence, integrity and positivity.

Salary: £41,729 – £54,131 per annum, depending on experience and SEND expertise
