The Role

As an SEN Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, accessible and differentiated lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needs.

  • Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex learning difficulties.

  • Developing pupils' confidence, independence, communication and social interaction skills.

  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to ensure positive learning outcomes.

  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists and other education professionals.

  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where every pupil feels supported and valued.

  • Implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning programmes.

  • Using positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils' emotional regulation and engagement.

  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues to promote consistent support.

  • Encouraging pupils to develop essential life skills and achieve their individual learning goals.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable teacher who can create a positive learning environment and inspire pupils with additional needs.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs, ideally within a mainstream or specialist SEND setting.

  • A strong understanding of differentiated teaching, inclusive education and individual learning needs.

  • Excellent classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to adapt teaching approaches to support pupils with varying abilities and complex needs.

  • A patient, compassionate and resilient approach to teaching.

  • A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs achieve their full potential.

  • Experience implementing EHCP targets and individualised learning strategies.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • A commitment to safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and inclusive education.

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are encouraged to apply, particularly those with a genuine interest in developing their experience within SEND education.
