The Role – SEN Teaching Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Islington. The school supports primary and secondary-aged students with a range of medical, cognitive and physical needs and is looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic individual to join its team.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored support, helping students access learning and develop their communication, social and independence skills. You will assist with classroom activities, deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions, and adapt your approach to meet each student's individual needs.

The ideal candidate will be patient, understanding and committed to helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning. Previous experience supporting students with special educational needs, including medical, cognitive or physical disabilities, would be highly beneficial.

The Ideal Candidate – SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with medical, cognitive and/or physical needs.
  • Confident providing 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Able to support students with their learning, communication and personal development.
  • Patient, compassionate and adaptable, with an understanding of individual learning needs.
  • Able to work effectively alongside teachers and other support staff.
  • Available to start ASAP and committed to a long-term position.
