First For Education is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in South Birmingham, supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional learning difficulties.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys making a real difference, helping pupils develop confidence, overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals.

- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Experience working with Autism (ASC), SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable
- Understanding of positive behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils who may experience barriers to learning
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and social interaction
- Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and participation
- Help create a safe, consistent and encouraging learning environment
- Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and essential life skills
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to implement individual support strategies
- Celebrate individual achievements and help every pupil make meaningful progress
