SEN TA

Recruiter: GAC Education

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Pay Rate: £85.00 – £105.00 per day (paid weekly)

Job Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Immediate and future start dates available)

Do you want a role where you can see the direct impact of your support every single day? GAC Education is expanding its West Yorkshire team and is actively recruiting a compassionate, dedicated SEN TA / Behaviour Support Worker to support schools throughout Wakefield.

The Opportunity

Every child deserves an advocate in the classroom. In this role as an SEN TA / Behaviour Support Worker, you will step away from general classroom management to focus on pupils who need specialized, tailored assistance to access their education.

We work with a wide array of fantastic primary and secondary schools in the Wakefield district. Working closely with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), the successful SEN TA / Behaviour Support Worker will provide 1-to-1 mentorship, adapt learning resources for neurodiverse pupils (including those with Autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties), and track daily progress. Your presence as a SEN TA / Behaviour Support Worker will provide the stability and structure these vulnerable learners need to build confidence and reach their full potential.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Prior experience supporting children or young adults with additional needs (gained in education, care, community youth projects, or personal settings).

  • Approach: A nurturing, patient nature combined with the ability to set clear boundaries and remain calm under pressure.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with visual timetables, sensory breaks, or alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS) is highly beneficial.

  • Compliance: An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new application with us).

Why Join GAC Education in Wakefield?

We ensure our specialist support staff feel valued, protected, and properly rewarded for their hard work.

Competitive Daily Rates: Earn £85.00 – £115.00 per day, depending on your experience and the specific setting.

Work-Life Balance: Standard school hours (Monday to Friday, approx. 8:30am – 3:30pm) with no weekend work.

Professional Growth: Regular, free CPD opportunities including Safeguarding, Autism Awareness, and De-escalation training.

Local Support: A dedicated consultant specializing in West Yorkshire schools to guide you through every placement.
