Smile Education is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across a range of primary, secondary and specialist schools in the WR1 area of Worcester.
We are working closely with schools that require additional support for children with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). These are rewarding opportunities for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Whether you are an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or have transferable experience from care, support work, youth work or mental health services, we would love to hear from you.
The RoleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Depending on the needs of the school, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.
- Supporting small intervention groups.
- Assisting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and moderate to complex learning difficulties.
- Implementing strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
- Supporting pupils with personal development, communication and social interaction.
- Adapting learning activities to suit individual needs.
- Encouraging independence while providing reassurance and consistency.
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Helping to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who Have:
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or Teaching Assistant.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
- Alternatively, experience within care, residential care, youth work, coaching, mental health support or similar sectors.
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain resilient in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- A willingness to learn and develop professionally.
