About the Role

Beckfoot Hazelbeck School is seeking a committed, caring, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team supporting pupils aged 11–19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

This is a highly rewarding role within a specialist secondary setting, where you will support students with complex learning needs, communication difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

A key aspect of this role includes supporting pupils with personal care needs, ensuring dignity, respect, and independence are promoted at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students aged 11–19 with a range of SEND needs in both classroom and practical settings.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to promote learning, independence, and engagement.
  • Assist with the delivery of personalised learning programmes under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene, in a safe and respectful manner.
  • Help manage behaviour in line with individual support plans and school policies.
  • Promote communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to support pupil development.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (preferred but not essential).
