Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs?
Teach Now is recruiting three SEN Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow this September. These long-term, full-time opportunities involve supporting children in Reception and Year 1, helping pupils with a range of additional needs thrive both academically and socially within a nurturing classroom environment.
Unlike traditional 1:1 roles, youll work flexibly within the classroom, delivering targeted support to individuals and small groups while promoting inclusion, independence and confidence.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support children with Autism (ASC), Speech & Language Needs, SEND, SEMH and social communication difficulties.
• Deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning activities.
• Use visual supports, structured routines and positive behaviour strategies to engage pupils.
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to support individual learning plans.
• Help pupils develop confidence, communication skills and independence.
• Support personal care where required for one of the available positions (training provided).
Requirements:
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND within a UK primary school or early years setting.
• Experience with Autism, speech and language needs, social communication difficulties or SEMH.
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence supporting children individually and in small groups.
• A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping every child reach their full potential.
• Willingness to provide personal care if required for the complex needs role.
