Salary depends on experience and qualifications. Higher rates apply to candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training, such as a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).

About the Role:

Help Year 3 pupils build confidence and independence as an SEN Teaching Assistant at a supportive primary school in Harrow. Working with children aged seven to eight, you will make learning accessible and encourage participation throughout the school day.

Alongside the class teacher, you will adapt activities, reinforce key ideas and provide individual and small-group support. You will help pupils follow classroom routines and develop the confidence to tackle tasks independently.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role suits someone patient, observant and enthusiastic about lower Key Stage 2. With an inclusive ethos and ambitious curriculum, the school offers opportunities to build positive relationships and see the impact of your support.

Requirements:

To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:

  • Experience supporting children with special educational needs in a primary school.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Clear spoken and written communication skills.
  • The right to work in the UK for the duration of the placement.
  • An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one before starting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Year 3 pupils to access lessons and classroom activities.
  • Adapt tasks with the class teacher to meet different learning needs.
  • Provide individual and small-group support while encouraging independence.
  • Maintain calm routines and a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Observe progress and share feedback with the class teacher.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain pupil confidentiality.
