We are currently recruiting experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to support students within a secondary school / specialist provision on the Wirral. This role is ideal for individuals who are confident working with challenging behaviour and have a strong understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
The RoleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
- Support pupils displaying challenging behaviours, using de-escalation techniques
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver tailored interventions
- Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation strategies
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Have previous experience working in a secondary school, PRU, or SEN setting
- Be confident supporting students with challenging behaviour and SEMH conditions
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
- Be resilient, patient, and able to remain calm under pressure
- Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
- Be able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Team Teach or other de-escalation training
- Experience within alternative provisions or PRUs
- Background in youth work, care, or pastoral roles

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
