Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist partner school, supporting pupils aged 3-19 years with a diverse range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require specialist support to access learning, develop communication skills, and build independence.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support for pupils, with a particular focus on those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex learning needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils with ASD to access learning through structured routines, visual supports, and personalised strategies.
• Assisting students who present with sensory processing difficulties, communication challenges, and emotional regulation needs.
• Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions as directed by teaching staff.
• Supporting pupils with personal care requirements in a dignified and respectful manner.
• Assisting with feeding programmes and mealtime support where required.
• Implementing behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies.

The successful candidate will be comfortable supporting pupils with significant physical and medical needs, including:

• Moving and handling duties in accordance with training and risk assessments.
• Supporting wheelchair users and pupils with mobility difficulties.
• Assisting with hoisting, positioning and physical care routines where required.
• Monitoring and supporting pupils with medical conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, respiratory conditions and complex health needs.
• Following healthcare plans and administering support under the direction of trained staff.
• Working collaboratively with nursing teams, therapists and external professionals.

We are looking for individuals who:

• Have experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly ASD.
• Are patient, resilient and adaptable.
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Are confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs.
• Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and families.
• Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
