About the Role
We are looking for a caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Harrow, supporting pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
You will provide personalised support to help pupils access learning, develop communication and social skills, manage behaviour and build confidence and independence. The role would suit someone who is patient, adaptable and confident supporting pupils with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group learning support

Support differentiated and personalised learning activities
-
Promote communication, social skills and independence
-
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
-
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
-
Follow individual support plans and EHCP targets
-
Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team
-
Assist with personal care where required
-
Support pupil wellbeing and safeguarding
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
-
Experience supporting pupils with MLD or similar learning needs
-
Patient, caring and adaptable approach
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
-
Right to Work in the UK
Desirable:
-
Experience within a specialist SEN school
-
Experience supporting ASC, SLD or communication needs
-
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC or sensory strategies
-
Personal care or manual handling experience
