A supportive and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is looking for a committed SENCO Assistant to join its inclusion team.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or aspiring SENCO who wants to take on additional responsibility and develop their understanding of SEND coordination within a primary school.
The Role
Working alongside the school's SENCO and teaching staff, you will help ensure pupils with additional needs receive the right support while also providing direct support in the classroom.
You will be involved in:
- Supporting the SENCO with the day-to-day organisation of SEND provision
- Monitoring and supporting pupils with additional needs across the school
- Helping teachers implement individual support strategies
- Supporting the review and monitoring of EHCP outcomes and SEN support plans
- Assisting with pupil observations, progress information and evidence gathering
- Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions
- Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication and learning needs
- Liaising with teachers, parents/carers and external professionals when required
- Helping maintain effective SEND records and documentation
- Promoting an inclusive approach throughout the school
About You
The ideal SENCO Assistant will have previous experience working with children with SEND and a genuine interest in developing within the special educational needs sector.
You should be:
- Organised and confident communicating with different professionals
- Patient, approachable and proactive
- Comfortable supporting children with a range of additional needs
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
- Interested in developing knowledge of EHCPs, SEN support and SEND processes
Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Higher Level Teaching Assistant or pastoral/SEND support worker would be beneficial.
