SEND Primary Teacher

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a small independent mainstream prep school established in 1981, which has a specialist SEND hub for pupils requiring additional support. The hub provides a challenging but highly rewarding environment, with a strong focus on regulation, sensory learning and individual progress.

The school is looking to appoint a full-time SEND Teacher on a permanent basis from September 2026, teaching pupils aged 7 to 9 who are working approximately two to four years below their chronological age, with some accessing learning around the 3 to 4-year stage. The successful SEND Teacher will plan and deliver an adapted sensory curriculum while working closely with specialist Teaching Assistants who support attention, autism and regulation needs through TACPAC, Lego Therapy and daily sensory circuits.

The successful SEND Teacher will have:

• QTS
• Experience teaching primary-aged pupils with SEND and learning difficulties
• Experience adapting lessons for pupils working below age-related expectations
• Knowledge of sensory curriculums and strategies that support emotional regulation
• The ability to work effectively with specialist Teaching Assistants
• A patient, resilient and flexible approach to teaching
