Are you a passionate and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant looking to inspire and support children with SEND? We are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive mainstream primary school in Weston Super Mare, North Somerset.
 
Pay: £92.59 - £110 per day
 
Location: Weston Super Mare, North Somerset
 
Contract: Full timeFixed Term Contract until August 2027, potential to extend if additional SEND funding is continued. 

Start date: September 2026

The school is a large 400+ place, 2 form entry, primary school in the heart of Weston Super Mare. The school, which received a "Good" OFSTED rating last year, is led by a supportive team of senior leaders. Part of a large Multi Academy Trust since 2016, the school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child can reach their full potential.
 
Your Role - as a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 support and small‑group intervention across KS1 and KS2, including targeted work with pupils with SEND and those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Support pupils with the transition into primary education by helping them adjust to new routines, expectations, and learning environments
  • Assist in the development and review of Individual Education Plans and behaviour support plans
  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils by responding to their individual needs, communication styles, and personalities
  • Encourage active engagement in learning by supporting pupils’ participation in class activities and promoting positive interaction with peers
  • Promote positive behaviour, modelling and reinforcing expectations while helping pupils develop responsibility for their actions and choices

Requirements for this SEND Teaching Assistant role:

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS (on the update service or be willing to apply via ANZUK)
  • Have experience supporting primary-aged children in the classroom
  • Understand SEND and how to adapt support to meet individual learning needs, especially for children with Autism and Social, Emotional, Mental Health
  • Have the right to work in the UK
