Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or Support Worker looking for a rewarding role within a supportive primary school?
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Hornchurch is looking to recruit several dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2026. These are full-time, long-term opportunities, with vacancies available across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.

The RoleAs a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs.
Depending on the needs of the school, you may work on a 1:1 basis, support small intervention groups, or provide classroom support for children with SEND across different year groups.
You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, develop independence, and make excellent progress both academically and socially.
Responsibilities- Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, Global Developmental Delay, and other Special Educational Needs.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support throughout the school day.
- Deliver targeted interventions to support learning and personal development.
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and parents.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute towards EHCP targets where appropriate.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
To be considered for this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you must have:
- A minimum of one year's experience supporting children with SEND within a school or previous experience working as a Support Worker, Care Worker, Residential Support Worker, or within a similar setting.
- Experience supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
