SEND Teaching Assistant in Bromley

Transparency Education is looking for a caring SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Bromley.

The pupil is pre-verbal and autistic, working at Reception level through an individualised curriculum delivered mainly outside the classroom. This role would suit someone who enjoys building trust, recognising small steps of progress and adapting learning around a child’s communication and developmental needs.

About the role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide consistent one-to-one support, helping the pupil feel secure, understood and ready to learn.
  

• Deliver practical, engaging activities linked to his individualised curriculum, under the teacher’s guidance.
  

• Support communication using strategies recommended by a speech and language therapist.
  

• Encourage independence, engagement and positive routines, sharing observations with the school team.
  

The pupil currently attends from 8:40am to 12:00pm, while your working hours will be 8:30am to 3:30pm. Behaviours that challenge, including physical aggression, are rare, and no personal care is required.

Who we’re looking for

• Experience supporting autistic children or pupils with SEND, ideally in a primary or Early Years setting.
  

• An understanding of communication needs and learning through play.
  

• A calm, patient approach and confidence adapting activities to a pupil’s developmental stage.
  

• A willingness to follow specialist guidance and work closely with colleagues.
  

• Availability to start promptly and commit to a long-term position.
