About Us

Chapmans Business Solutions Limited are a growing independent accountancy practice providing a proactive and high-quality service to a broad range of owner-managed businesses, partnerships and individuals.

As a result of continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant to strengthen our team and support the increasing volume of work across the practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who enjoys working closely with clients and being involved across all areas of a modern accountancy practice.

The Role

The successful candidate will work alongside the Directors and existing senior team, taking responsibility for a portfolio of clients and providing support across accounts, tax and business advisory matters.

The role will involve a combination of client-facing work, technical compliance and supporting junior team members where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and review of statutory accounts for limited companies.
• Preparation and review of accounts for partnerships and sole traders.
• Preparation and review of corporation tax returns.
• Preparation and review of personal tax returns.
• VAT return preparation and review.
• CIS return preparation and review.
• Payroll processing and payroll oversight.
• Bookkeeping and cloud accounting support.
• Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as a key point of contact.
• Assisting clients with accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and other cloud solutions.
• Supporting junior members of the team with technical queries and workflow management where required.
• Liaising directly with HMRC and Companies House on client matters.
• Identifying opportunities to improve client processes and add value through advisory support.
• Assisting with practice workflow management and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Supporting the onboarding of new clients and maintaining excellent client service standards.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

• Have substantial experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
• Be AAT qualified or qualified by experience (QBE).
• Have strong accounts and tax compliance experience.
• Be confident managing their own client portfolio.
• Have experience of payroll, VAT and CIS compliance.
• Be comfortable building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Possess excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Be able to work independently whilst contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Be proactive, professional and solutions-focused in their approach.
• Have strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using Xero, QuickBooks and other cloud accounting software.
• Experience reviewing and supporting the work of junior staff.
• Experience dealing with owner-managed businesses across a variety of sectors.
• Experience assisting clients with business and tax planning matters.
• Experience of practice management systems and digital workflows.
