Senior Accounts Assistant in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire

Anderson Knight is proud to partner with its client to recruit a Senior Accounts Assistant to join their growing accountancy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional looking to take the next step in their career within a varied role, working with a diverse portfolio of clients.
The successful candidate will have previous experience working within an accountancy practice and be confident managing a range of accounts preparation and bookkeeping duties. You will play an important role in supporting clients with their accounting requirements, ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Prepare year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
•    Complete bookkeeping duties and maintain accurate financial records.
•    Prepare VAT returns and ensure submissions are completed within deadlines.
•    Assist with the preparation of management accounts.
•    Complete bank, control account and balance sheet reconciliations.
•    Support with the preparation of personal and business tax returns where required.
•    Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve accountancy queries.
•    Review financial information, identifying discrepancies and investigating any issues.
•    Ensure client records are maintained accurately and in line with relevant accounting standards.
•    Support junior members of the team and assist with general practice duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate:
•    AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA, with a desire to continue developing professionally.
•    Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential.
•    Strong experience in accounts preparation and bookkeeping.
•    Good understanding of VAT and general accounting principles.
•    Experience working with a variety of clients, including limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
•    Strong IT skills, including experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
•    Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage workloads effectively.
•    Confident communicating with clients and building strong working relationships.
•    Able to work independently and as part of a wider team.
